Ayr United boss Scott Brown has hit out at referee Iain Snedden and claimed he was subject to some 'inappropriate' remarks.

The Honest Men's latest Scottish Championship clash ended 1-1 with Greenock Morton, and it saw the Celtic legend booked on the touchline by Snedden for expressing his displeasure at the whistlers behaviour.

Several members of the Ayr coaching staff were also cautioned during a tense encounter at Somerset Park. And it left Brown seething as he questioned why the official wanted to be centre stage.

He raged: "The referee made the game about himself. It was obviously a big occasion for him.

"I was booked at half time, he said a few things to me that weren't appropriate but it should be more about the two teams than him.

"He booked more members of the coaching staff than players. Our lads dealt with what was a stop-start game very well.

"I was proud of how we played tonight and the lads' understanding of the game. But we need to keep getting points on the board and also start getting clean sheets."
