FRUSTRATED former Motherwell striker Lee Erwin is ready for a loan move to try and reignite his Leeds United career.

The forward moved to Elland Road from Fir Park in the summer on the back of helping the Steelmen record a 6-1 Premiership play-off victory over Rangers.

Despite the best efforts of the Lanarkshire club to keep the talent who had come through their youth academy, the 21-year-old decided to test himself down south at the Championship club, a move which earned his old team over £500,000 in a development fee.

However, things have not gone to plan for the former Scotland Under-19 cap.

Erwin has yet to appear for the Leeds top team while being forced to sit on the bench without being thrown on five times last month.

And having been a regular feature of the club’s development squad, for whom he scored twice on Monday against QPR, he believes he must now look elsewhere for a chance to prove his worth to Uwe Rosler if the United manager isn’t ready to throw him in at senior level.

He said: “I would enjoy going out on loan if there’s no chance for me of getting first-team football here.

“After getting first-team football last year, it’s a lot better than playing Under-21 football.

“Hopefully I can get the chance to prove my point. The main thing for me is just to develop. I’m still just 21.

“Hopefully we can get something sorted but, if not, I’m content here. I’ll keep developing and waiting to get my chance.

“It’s been good so far. I’m just taking in the different environment and the different coaching. I knew I wasn’t going to be part of the first team straight away when I came in but I’m enjoying it.

“Obviously you want to play football but at least I’m getting 90 minutes here (with the Under- 21s).”
