MARK WARBURTON will lead Rangers to the top of Scottish football within three years – and could revolutionise our game in the process.

That was the prediction from Justin Andrews, one of Warburton’s partners on the NextGen series, today as he forecasts a bright Light Blue future.

Warburton was appointed Rangers boss last week as the Ibrox board moved to lure the highly-rated coach and sought-after manager to the club to spearhead the Gers rebuilding job this summer.

The 52-year-old was the brains behind the NextGen series alongside Andrews and Brentford chairman Matthew Benham before being given his big break at the Bees. Warburton has a huge task on his hands to return Rangers to their former glories, but sports producer Andrews has high hopes for his friend at Ibrox.

He told SportTimes: “Rangers are going to be the best team in Scotland within three years. I can guarantee that 100 per cent. Mark will want to play European football.

“His first objective is to make the stadium a great place to go and watch football again.

“I read comments about how at Rangers you have to win every game. He will be thinking ‘I have to win these fans over’.

“And to do that they have to have something to come and watch and enjoy. You will get end-to-end football, attacking play.

“Next season, he will want to take it on and then in the next season he will want to play in Europe. Mark and I have worked together for years and it is an incredible thing for him, and a great appointment for Rangers.”

After turning his back on a high-flying job in the City, Warburton set his sights on a career in football and self-funded trips across the world to take his first steps in the game.

His rise through the ranks – from youth coach at Watford to Brentford boss and now manager of Rangers – has seen him become one of the up-and-coming figures in football.

And Andrews hopes that people north of the border take note of his methods and ideas.

He said: “Mark is a really driven person, a great change maker when you look at what he has done with Inside Soccer, NextGen, Watford and Brentford.

“It is not just good for Rangers, it is good for Scottish football that there is someone up there who can change things for the better.

“Everybody has been talking about him down here. Scottish football has to get out of him what they can and use him to look at how they can make Scottish players better. He is the best sounding board they could have.

“What Scottish football needs is great games. Celtic can’t do it on their own. You need Rangers in there and when they are back they will play great football. Then Scottish football will be what it should be and everyone will benefit from it.”
