A PRISONER has died in custody at HMP Low Moss in Bishopbriggs. 

The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) announced that Arthur James MacKenzie passed away on Sunday, January 21.

The 73-year-old was convicted at Campbeltown Sheriff Court in 2024.

Police Scotland has been advised about the death.

Meanwhile, the death has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

A spokesperson for SPS said: "Arthur James MacKenzie, 73, a prisoner at HMP Low Moss has died on January 21, 2024.

"He was convicted at Campbeltown Sheriff Court in 2024.

"Police Scotland have been advised and the matter reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

"A Fatal Accident Inquiry will be held in due course.
