Neil Lennon will play a special role in a Celtic hero's upcoming wedding.

Kris Commons and his partner of over 20 years Lisa Hague are preparing to marry this weekend in a 'small' affair.

And it has been revealed that the former Hoops boss is going to be involved in the special day, the Daily Record reports.

Lisa told the paper: "It's going to be nice, Neil Lennon is one of our witnesses and we've just got a nice small group."

Glasgow Times:

While the ceremony will be held in their native Chesterfield, there will be little nods to Commons' time in Scotland with Celtic, as he will wear tartan and there will be a green colour scheme.

The couple planned a low-key wedding so that they can use the money they would have spent on a lavish affair to help others.

Lisa, who trained to become a grief coach after having a stillbirth, organises counselling retreats to help others who have lost a child.

She said on Instagram: "Me and Kris decided that we are going to have a super small wedding. My wedding budget that I would have had, I'm going to give it back to the Grieve and Grow retreats as it just seems the right thing to do, we're a bit older getting married, we've got kids and we work really hard throughout the year fundraising so it seemed just a bit of waste of money to blow it on one day."
