PEOPLE from the West End of Glasgow voiced their disappointment after a beloved post box topper was 'stolen'.

The treasured piece of art appeared in front of the Thornwood Post Office at the end of March.

Now, the knitted couple has disappeared from the post box.

On Tuesday, a member of the public shared an upsetting post on Facebook.

It read: "To the person who removed the post box topper from outside Thornwood Post Office - I would like to say that I hope taking or destroying it has made you happy. I am not being sarcastic; I really mean it.

"To steal or damage something pleasant and harmless, which is of no monetary value, and which quite a few people have said they enjoyed seeing, you must be a very unhappy person. If taking this has made you feel better, I am glad it was there for you."

One person replied: "Sorry to see this - I love seeing them when I’m out and about."

Another local added: "Lowest of low to do something like that."
