CROONER Paul Young laid his hat at a popular Glasgow hotel as he made a whistlestop visit to the city – and met an actor from one of Scotland’s most iconic TV shows.

The 67-year-old – who is currently touring the UK with his Behind The Lens show – stayed at the Devoncove Hotel at 951 Sauchiehall Street where he enjoyed some food and drink at the venue’s highly-rated Beneroti Bar and Bistro.

The velvet-voiced Love of the Common People singer wasn’t the only famous face at the busy venue as Taggart star John Michie, who is starring in Group Portrait In A Summer Landscape, also popped by for some top hospitality and an overnight stay.

Michie was in Glasgow for a special show at the nearby CCA celebrating the 40th anniversary of the iconic detective programme as he joined fellow cast members Blyth Duff, James MacPherson and Colin McCreadie to swap stories from the 110 episodes of the show that made up its 27 series.

The showbiz pair were happy to pose for photos with Devencove owner and managing director Robin Bansal, alongside his partner Eleanor Keane.

Robin said: “We were delighted to welcome both Paul and John and we look forward to seeing them again soon.

“We are just about to launch our new 'two courses for a tenner' menu and special drinks promotions, so maybe they had heard and wanted to try and grab themselves a great deal.”
