The family of Sheku Bayoh, who died in police custody, are to lead a demonstration rally on Sunday.

The 31-year-old's partner Collette Bell and his sister Kadijartu Johnson are expected to be joined by hundreds of supporters in Kirkcaldy, Fife.

The family last marched through the town on the day of Mr Bayoh's funeral.

Mr Bayoh, a father of two, died on Sunday May 3 after police were called to an alleged incident over a man carrying a knife in the street.

He was restrained by officers using CS Gas and died following the incident which involved up to nine officers and left a female constable injured.

Aamer Anwar, the family's lawyer, said it is expected that the family will take their protest to both Westminster and Holyrood in the weeks ahead.

He said: "This family are determined that they will not be silenced.

"The march is the first step."

Kate Frame, the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner, is conducting the probe into the case and has met with the Bayoh family.

A Pirc spokesman said earlier that the commissioner "reassured the family that she and her team of investigators are objectively exploring all lines of enquiry".

On Sunday June 7 about 300 took part in the funeral procession that started at Hayfield Road, where police were called to the incident involving Mr Bayoh.

Members of the community joined relatives and friends on the walk to Kirkcaldy police station, where a two-minute silence was held.

Details of the march, due to begin at Kirkcaldy Town House on Sunday at 2pm, are due to be released.
