A new radio programme has hit the airwaves at a Glasgow hospital to help connect family and friends at home.

The programme, Queen Elizabeth Hospital Request Show, has launched at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow's Southside

It will allow family and friends at home to request songs to listen to as well as allow patients to make announcements over the radio to those back home.

There will also be useful information about what is happening at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for patients, visitors and staff at Scotland’s super hospital.

The show will broadcast at 12 noon every Thursday on Quality Radio on DAB digital radio across Glasgow and on 107.5 FM across Paisley and Renfrewshire and the surrounding areas, plus online and on the Quality Radio App.

By taking requests it is hoped that this will help entertain those within the hospital and at home with songs that they would like to hear.

Norman Ross, director of the Scottish registered charity and community radio station Quality Radio based in Paisley, says this will complement the service that is already provided at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.

Norman said: "I must thank the staff at Greater Glasgow & Clyde Health Board for their assistance in making the programmes possible and the co-operation of Southern Sound.

"We look forward to working closely with the hospital to provide an enhanced service for patients, and for families at home."
